Visa, US–Spain taxes, NIE, banking, home and schools — one English-speaking team handles the whole move, so you don't have to decode Spanish bureaucracy alone.

The American checklist
You don't have to become an expert on Spanish bureaucracy. Here's what we take off your plate.
Non-Lucrative, Digital Nomad or student — the right route depends on your income and plans. A licensed lawyer confirms it, free.
Still filing with the IRS, FBAR/FATCA, the 183-day rule, the US–Spain treaty and the Beckham Law. We connect you with cross-border pros.
Some Spanish banks shy away from US clients. We take you to the ones that don't, and prep the paperwork.
No Spanish income or credit yet? Our Rent-to-Buy route lets you move in with about 5% down and buy later.
US license rules, private health insurance for your visa, utilities, pets and schools — handled in plain English.
One point of contact and one written plan for the whole move — not ten disconnected providers in a language you don't speak.
Visas for US citizens
As an American you can visit visa-free for 90 days — but to live in Spain you need residency. These are the routes that fit most US citizens. A licensed partner immigration lawyer confirms which is right for you.
The classic route for retirees, remote-independent people and anyone not working in Spain. You show sufficient passive income or savings and private health insurance.
For remote employees and freelancers working for companies outside Spain. It can also open the door to the Beckham Law tax regime (see below).
Student visas (great for language courses and a soft landing), family reunification, and other routes. We'll map the options in your free consultation.
Heads up on the Golden Visa: Spain closed its investor "Golden Visa" on 3 April 2025, so buying property no longer grants residency. If an agency still advertises it to you, that's a red flag. For most Americans the Non-Lucrative or Digital Nomad Visa is now the right route — we'll tell you which, honestly.
Provided by our licensed partner immigration lawyers in Spain. We coordinate and prepare your documents; the lawyers give the legal advice.
The tax question
The US is one of the only countries that taxes citizens no matter where they live. Get this right before you move — not after. We are not tax advisors; we connect you with licensed cross-border US–Spain specialists and make sure it's handled from day one.
US citizens report worldwide income wherever they live, plus FBAR/FATCA foreign-account reporting. The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion and foreign tax credits usually prevent double taxation.
Spend more than 183 days in Spain in a calendar year and you become a Spanish tax resident on your worldwide income. Timing your move matters — we plan it with you.
A tax treaty between the two countries is designed to stop you being taxed twice on the same income. A cross-border advisor applies it correctly to your situation.
New residents who qualify can pay a flat 24% on Spanish-source income up to 600.000€ for up to six years, instead of progressive rates. The Digital Nomad Visa can open this door.
What we handle
Pick the pieces you need, or hand us the entire move. Every service is built for someone arriving from abroad.
No Spanish income or credit history yet? Choose the home you want, move in with about 5% down, and buy it later at a price locked in today. An investor partner buys the property you pick.
We search the entire market for you — every agency, every listing. You fly in for viewings; we coordinate the rest — NIE document prep with accompaniment, plus banking setup.
Every American needs an NIE (your Spanish tax/ID number) before almost anything else. We prepare your documents and accompany you to your appointments — in English.
FATCA makes some Spanish banks nervous about US clients. We introduce you to the banks that welcome Americans and accompany you to the appointment.
American and international schools, private health insurance for your visa, utilities, and the US driver's-license question — sorted, in English.
A dedicated manager runs your visa coordination, home, schools and household end to end — airport pickup to the day you're fully settled.
Why Alicante
We're based in Alicante for a reason — it's one of the easiest, most livable landings for a US family.
300-plus days of sun a year, beaches, and a relaxed Mediterranean rhythm — with a modern city and an international airport.
Rent, dining and healthcare typically cost far less than comparable US coastal cities — your dollars stretch further here.
A large, established international community, English-speaking doctors and international schools — you're not the first American here.

What clients say
A few words from US clients who moved into their Spanish home through our Rent-to-Buy programme.
"After several rejections, we thought it wasn't possible. When they analysed our situation, they saw that with small adjustments there was a viable path."
"I know of others just as interested as Gio and I were. One day we'll record a video recommending the rent-to-own programme and how the team played an integral part in the whole process."
A smarter way to live in Spain
Long-term rentals in Spain are scarce and insecure. Our fund-backed Rent-to-Own gives you a stable home for years — with the option, never the obligation, to buy it.
